STICKY: MARP IS THE 0% – a disclaimer blog explaining why MARP is a great source for information to distrust

HOW TO READ MARP

The Text on the Milton Avenue Revolutionary Press represents no one or no thing.

The MARP is a futile exercise in New Media, Alternative Blog Journalism, Cultural Production, Satire, and rendering things in specific terminology (ie. WORDS, WORDS, WORDS, WORDS) — with no express purpose except to be read in the internet-epoch of the “attention economy”.

When reading MARP, the most important thing is to understand is that it is not meant to be understood. We at the MARP are also committed to nothing more than publishing a small fragment of implausible interpretations.

This Text is Incomplete and Incompletable.

NOTE: The MARP is DEAD

MARP nominated for SSMU Award

2012 official photo of mcgill principal heather munroe-blum

Earlier today, our editor-in-chief Karlos Marx received official email notice of the Milton Avenue Revolutionary Press’ nomination for SSMU Publication of the Year.

This would entail Karlos getting funky with heather at an all-you-can-drink gala — and maybe him spending his sixth evening sleeping over at the james admin building.

cute

cute office (click for HD... email me for 5.7MB version)

It remains unclear whether or not campus conservatives will protest the nomination, while it is certain that Karlos has again pragmatically looked forward while all others will expose themselves as reactionaries.

Best of luck to our competition, without you, there could be no growth.

MARP on strike along with Philosophy, Feminist Studies, and Art History & Communications Studies at McGill.

No more critical theory — until we decide it is the proper route.

The time for dialectics is over, now we act.

PSA McGill Unlimited General Strike

In response to yesterday’s MRO sent by Jim Nicell, “Message re blocking of classes – Accès aux salles de cours bloqué”, we would like to challenge the McGill University Administration’s characterization of events on campus and the responses to them, in particular the summary banning of students from the McGill campus.
There were several incidents on the McGill campus on 26 March in which a number of students who were peacefully expressing their views were singled out and barred from campus for 5 days under article 21a of the Code of Student Conduct. Yesterday’s MRO states that: “Everyone in our community has the right to express peacefully their views about issues.”

We believe that this selection and punishment of certain students for exclusion from our campus and community is especially draconian and a completely inappropriate response to their actions. This further harassment of students by the administration is in addition…

MARPLEAKS: Tons of Dox About The James McGill Royal Centre for The Advancement of Capital

The MARP is proud to announce that we are going to release a full payload of dox relating to Corporate Investments at the McGill Military-Money-Factory Complex.

hell yes

all i want is a bunch of industrial factories from which i can exploit surplus value to make more industrial factories... but right now i'm just rolling dice in an alley for cigarettes and more dice.

We understand that releasing these hundred-and-thirty pages will be very funny / divisive — but the MARP doesn’t give a fuck.

I hope the Admin cough on their cigars while laughing brandy through their noses at the fireplace.

The dox, as previously discussed, were released to our source through an Access-to-Information request, which was submitted to Secretary-General Stephen Strople by a brave comrade.

This person who bravely entered the James Administrative Security Centre through the front doors — armed with a sealed envelope and knowledge of the law.

After the requisite extraordinary delay period — which McGill abused to the very limit of what is allowed under the law — the dox were then provided to our source after they paid standard-rate profitable-print-fees to the McGill Informatics Control Board.

look at it

this is literally only a fraction of the beginning of the second set of scanned files. what could it mean?

While I am not educated in Bourgeois Economics, I can see what use these will be to campus radicals — now when one claims there is a deep connection between evil mining corporations and weapons manufacturers and McGill, there will be documents to prove it!
[Ed’s note: This of course presumes that digital text is more highly regarded in the present age of the “information economy” as the materially present shrines to mining on campus were not enough.

Plus, professors/workers who wish to know how pensions are invested may find some clues!! [SPOILER: AMERICAN OIL, PIPELINES, BANKS, MINING]

Have fun! Check for your favourite banks (like RBC, where The HMB is a board member) or your favourite labour crushing Industrial Tin Producer Rio/Tinto Alcan (where The HMB is also a board member).

BUZZPOST: MARPLEAKS en route??

MARP has access to documents which reveal corporate ties in the university.

proof

i am not an economist so i don't even understand the subtextual elements.

Our source has assured us of the authenticity of the documents

And also our legitimacy in publishing them as they were released to him through an Access to Information request ¿¿thus they are now his property and we can put them online??

(this part is still fuzzy)

ANTI-POLICE BRUTALITY MARCH UPDATE

MARP has been really busy avoiding THE LAW along with other student-run publications.

SDgh uilzwgrzd

ziofgzdio; fugrk

Also, Karlos Marx has been in the streets more often facing off against the Pigs on the front lines.

Yesterday, 15 Mars, is the Annual International Day of Action Against Police Brutality and, like every other year, Montreal’s HARDEST anarchists were in the streets.

The government has also recently recommended that people DO NOT enter the streets and express their rage against the Pigs. What better excuse to confirm attendance?

Disobey the State. Get hit by the State. Learn your relation to the State.
And Capital.

On 15 Mar, the People assembled at St. Catherines at Berri-UQAM at 5 pm and took the streets.

Marching all around the city, expressing the Power of The People doing this:

FUCK LA POLICE

Yesterday’s march was easily one of the most successful in recent memory.

OPEN LETTER FROM SSMU SAYS “FUCK OFF AUS – McGILL IS NOT A CONSEQUENCE FREE ENVIRONMENT!”

We at the MARP are proud to reblog this Open Letter from SSMU against lying turncoat politician council, the Arts Undergraduate Vanguard.

lineup for AUS GA 2012

this lineup speaks to the fact that the idea of a strike-vote occupied people's metaphysical space

Interestingly, the AUS was given a deal (25% off) to join CLASSE, but VP Finance spoke against the $5, 600 fee with disgusting crocodile-tears all over her piglet face in-between #rude asides to Rad Mob Women by the mic.

Of course, VP Finance has proven herself braindead because $12 000 in cash was stolen from under her piggish noseduring Fall 2011 Frosh. This fact does not negate the fact that the AUS still made $9 000 on Frosh, and has $22 000 in pure Digitized Capital in the Bank.

bro

bro did u hear there wuld be smosas?

It’s hard to explain how bad the AUS General Assembly was, but I will try.

Out of 7 000 members, 3 000+ showed to vote, but it took three hours of delays to even begin discussion. After six minutes of debate, campus Fascists forced a call to vote.
It went like this:

(Scene: Roman Colosseum.
Audience cheers spectacle, blood)
Fascist: THROW THE CHRISTIANS TO THE LIOOOONNS!!!
55% of Audience: RYYYRYAYAYHAHAHHGHAGHAH
Fascist: MOTION TO SUSPEND RULES AND CALL VOTE!

This resulted in the 1 100 remaining AUS students to vote 45% FOR an Unlimited General Strike without any debate or amendments.

Extremely close considering that when people do not know what they are voting for (via uninformed / misinformed via sensationalist fascist tactics) they vote for the status quo(ie. racism, sexism, transphobia, oppression, police-state, war on the impoverished, drug incarceration in racialized neighbourhoods, TUITION HIKES).

SO HERE BELOW, is a REBLOG of a letter from SSMU to AUS:

To the AUS Executive Committee:

We would like to congratulate you on an extremely well-attended General Assembly last night. We would also like to express our extreme disappointment and frustration concerning the poor communication, organization, and attitude which shaped your response to the unexpected numbers and thus took a toll on SSMU staff, clubs, services, executives, attendees, and other students using the building.

Because of your lack of contingency planning for the high turnout, the SSMU Executive and full-time staff had to neglect their other responsibilities to intervene in the crisis. When we asked your volunteers and members of your Executive Committee how to help, there was little to no direction provided and most seemed clueless as to any plan of action.

Our Security Supervisor had to call in extra agents on short notice, as well as calling on other staff members to stay overtime in order to ensure the security of the event. Our Executive and staff were outside communicating to your frustrated and confused members about what was going on. The AUS harassed our clubs, most notably the Muslim Students’ Association, to move out of rooms in order to accommodate your needs. After initially rebuffing their desire to livestream the event, you demanded that TVM–a volunteer-run student service–give you “tech support” and accommodate your needs at a moment’s notice.

While we are happy to work with the AUS to help you run events that are relevant to your members (who, after all, are all part of SSMU as well), such a partnership requires responsibility sides. Such failures reflect poorly on both of our organizations.

In short, we are not only disappointed with your poor planning, but also disgusted by your sense of entitlement and disrespect for the space, time, and resources of others.

Due to these concerns, the SSMU Executive Committee has decided to take the following actions:

  • The AUS Executive may not book any more space in the William Shatner University Centre until the term of the current AUS Executive Committee has expired, except on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Building Managers. Groups which normally book space through the AUS are invited to contact VP Clubs & Services Carol Fraser directly (cs@ssmu.mcgill.ca).
  • The AUS will be billed for all security agents, staff overtime, services (including TVM), and cleaning costs incurred by last night’s event.
  • We demand that the AUS issue a public letter of apology to the affected clubs and services, our Security Supervisor, our staff, and all attendees–who are also SSMU members–who were in any way frustrated by the General Assembly.
  • Concerning the AUS’s Nuit Blanche event on March 22, we have changed the booking to “pending” status. The booking will only be accepted upon receipt of a complete, thorough, written document about the event, which will outline all activities and their locations, all volunteers and coordinators involved and their contact information, a detailed timeline including setup and clean-up, and a crisis management plan in the event of whatever mishaps may arise. This document must be submitted to the SSMU General Manager no later than noon on Monday, March 19.

We look forward to rebuilding our relationship into a more productive partnership.

Sincerely,

Todd Plummer (Vice President, Internal) and Carol Fraser (Vice President, Clubs & Services)

on behalf of The SSMU Executive Committee, 2011-2012

REBLOG: Bourgeois Media Covers MARP, McGillLeaks

Montréal’s most miserable pandering rag, the Gazette, has covered McGill Legal’s action taken against two independent student-run campus-media newsproducts — both the Milton Avenue Revolutionary Press and the McGill Daily.

stolen

i stole this from the gazette

MARP articles on the history of McGill Legal action against student news outlets are available here, here, and here.

The Gazette article addresses all the relevant issues in the case (ie. MARP):

Someone calling himself “Karlos Marx” at a website called the Milton Avenue Revolutionary Press posted a letter from McGill’s lawyers, McCarthy Tétrault, saying the documents were stolen and obtained illegally and demanding an immediate stop to soliciting leads or encouraging people to download the documents.

This is pretty cool!!!! I can’t wait to NOT TELL ANYONE because SECURITY CULTURE!!

Summer 2012 Revolutionary Fashion Roundup

In our second-ever FASHION BLOG (first one is available here), MARP will discuss the hottest fashions for Summer 2012 to wear in your favourite locally-purchasing student-run Montréal hotspot.

The Knit Red Square

knitting in red

check out this gorgeous quilt being created with knitted red squares

You have have seen your closest comrades knitting up a storm in your local strike-meetings, or even wearing these gorgeous, unique, pre/post-industrial fashion accessories on their bag, jacket, or black bloc headmask.
Being that Red Felt is now extraordinarily tough to acquire on the island right now, (via economics) labouring away on a stockpile of personalized squares may be the ultimate way to express your Being as an Individual inside a Revolutionary Movement that Universally represents Students — in general.

The MUNACA Shirt

t shiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt

bring these babies BACK!! they be IN DEMAND!!

Being that McGill’s Support Workers’ Union MUNACA has been repeatedly screwed in every way by the University’s industrial-labour-budgeting complex — after coming back to work for three months!

It is extremely important that you wear your extremely hip I ♥ MUNACA shirt around campus, especially during the Unlimited General Strike because it could convince the 1, 700 workers to leave work and occupy any building on this goddamn campus.

Vote YES for CKUT 2012 Pin

ckut 2012

VOTE YES!!! x0x0x0

Last season, the Vote YES for CKUT Fall 2011 came back from fashion DEADSVILLE because the Admin refused to accept the Yes vote from the Fall 2011 SSMU Referendum. Now that the losers in the James Military-Bureaucracy Center for the Commodification of Existence have recognized the existence of CKUT, they have to return to the vote to retrieve control of their Opt-Out system. Being that Summer 2012 is official Israel Apartheid Summer, QPIRG support can be signified by wearing your Palestinian kuffiyeh.

The Pro-Hike, Anti-Strike White Square

discusting

yuck who would want to be this

Believe it or not, there are a bunch of white squares hanging around McGill Campus. These white squares are pro-hike and anti-strike — facts they will argue best relate to the objectively clear facts of “economics” which have been divinely received by whichever Prof has the most bowties or edited the latest revision of the textbook.

Previously, a McGill student who sits on the Philosophy Students’ Association commented on the Anti-Strike FB page — raising questions about his ability to form a coherent logical thought, until his elite position as future student of Oxford Graduate studies in Philosophy provides the empirical evidence necessary to prove QED his status as “good at logic”.

Wearing a felt white square on the streets is basically asking for the ANTIFA contingent of CÉGEP de Vieux Montréal to spray paint your Mercedes after you park it on Sherbrooke before heading to the pig-shit scuzzfest known as “SSMU Faculty Apocalympics.”

LEGAL LOL UPDATE: Personal Letter to Karlos Marx

Earlier today. Karlos got around to cleaning up the Communal Electronic Mailbox which has been packed full to the rim with spam emails and fraudulent credit card charges since early Fev 2012.

Aside from some new content from contributors, the MARP received a very special notice personally addressed to our founding editor, Karlos Marx [the first letter was just a reblog of the second letter addressed to WordPress about us].

Obviously, we did not comply with the notice and are instead posting it online here for everyone to read.

FOR THE RECORD: even though the MARP has suggested that people download the McGillLeaks documents and email leads to us, no one has actually sent anything, except for these goddamn lawyers.

REFLECTIONS ON MIDTERMS: University Brainwashing Bureaucrats Raise Production Quotas

Students of McGill University have begun to express disillusionment at the production quotas formerly released by the Politburo, as midterm expectations have risen to famine-causing levels.

mentaaal health

this may be you, if you still believe in distinctions

When asked about the effects of the sudden increase in work expectations, a student of Political Science responded poignantly, “I havenʼt eaten or showered in two days.”

Students have likened the sudden seizure of resources to the Holodomor of 1932 in Ukraine, fearing that the “Holodowhore” of February 2012 will yield similar deadly results. Victims of starvation and exhaustion can be seen crawling in the basement of McLennan Library, craving socialization, food, or any semblance of the normalcy that once defined their lives.

Students have reported feeling hopeless, inhuman, and intellectually exploited by the costs of the rising expectations, details of which Brainwashing Assistants have been forced to dutifully administer, for fear of administrative punishment, despite raw memories of the past.

A Brainwashing Assistant in the Faculty of Arts explained his anguish as a bureaucratic middleman, noting the need to hide his pity while inflicting the laborious assignments, because, as he explains, the starving, angsty students “can smell fear”.

The quotas have indeed notably increased for most students, even to three or four times their previous workload. Rumours abound of students passing out in University buildings, losing hair, or even eating their own children.

FOLLOW THE LAW

FOLLOW THE LAW

This proletarian suffering has only given further momentum to the occupations of the James Administration building, as the quotas are considered likely to have been a final policy blow by ex-Dean of Student Life and Learning Morton J. Mendelsohn. The distribution of his resignation cake, however, caused significant controversy amongst witnessing students.

The midterm evaluation quota expectations will likely continue to impact the eating, sleeping, and hygiene habits of students for the next several weeks until adjustments are made. One thing is certain: the proletarian suffering that has ensued is not an accident, and is highly detrimental to both student life and student learning.

The McGill Health Clinic will continue to have walk-in hours from 8h00 to 16h00, and in the event of sightings of students asleep, dead, rolling in their own vomit, or offensively greasy and unpleasant smelling in a public place, please call 911 or direct them to a healthcare provider.

REPETITIVE NEWS UPDATE: McGILL FUCKS LABOUR UNION MUNACA

MARP analyzed the new and interesting ways that Industrial-Debt-Complex McGill was CONTINUOUSLY FUCKING their Unionized Labourers RIGHT AFTER A STRIKE a few months back in an extremely satirical MARP article originally posted on 5 Fev 2012. [Editors’s note: McGill Daily commentary from 6 Fev covers it here]

munaca strike

this time, munaca said “yes” and admin said “NO”

Well, earlier today MUNACA manifested on McGill Campus to break the Provisional Protest Protocol, deliver a letter to the HMB. [Editors’ Note: Union Boss Kevin Whittaker had made an appointment to enter the Militarized inner core of the James Administrative Safer Space]

The Union was PISSED because McGILL FUCKED THEM AGAIN… BY NEVER UNFUCKING THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!

You see, starting on 1 Sept 2011, 1 700 MUNACA workers began picketing Lower Campus, from which they were later banned BY LAW.

Eventually, after 11 months of negotiations — four of which on strike — MUNACA labourers returned to work on 6-9 Dec 2011.

STRIKE

STRIKE

Even though McGill came to an agreement with MUNACA/PSAC negotiators at a table,
it wasn’t enough.

Even though the contract was submitted to be ratified at a General Assembly of the workers of the Union — and passed,
it wasn’t enough.

Even though the workers returned to work for three months in good faith that the Employer will ratify the contract,
it wasn’t enough.

And so, on 9 Mar 2012, MUNACA chose to march through campus holding flags and then deliver a letter to the hive-of-bullshit known at the “James Administrative Austerity Cash Reduction Complex”

Alternative proposal would be to smash all the windows and pie HMB in her smug face — but we students are here in absolute solidarity no matter how you choose to externalize your struggle

the contents of the letter were reblogged by the MUNACA facebook page handlers here, and we reblog it again below:

MUNACA’s response to HR’s notice and letter to the Principal
JUST AN IDEA
JUST AN IDEA

After a rally in the James Square today, Kevin Whittaker delivered a letter, copied below, to the Principal’s office.

This letter states that the delay in signing of the Collective Agreement is unacceptable and provides further details about the only article that remains in dispute.

You have probably seen the notice from Lynne Gervais, the Associate Vice-Principal (Human Resources), countering our version of the issue that is delaying the signing of the Collective Agreement.

In it she states the following: “Even if there is still a dispute about any issue, MUNACA can sign the agreement as ratified and file an interpretation grievance to resolve this issue.” Who in their right mind would sign a contract when, as Ms Gervais herself put it, “A prime issue has arisen” with one of the terms of that contract? Ms Gervais, would you sign a contract if you were unclear on the interpretation of an important clause, with the assurance from the opposing party that it can just be dealt with later? Would the McGill Administration sign a contract under such a condition?

MUNACA has no intention of signing something we don’t understand or agree to just because McGill is waving our own money in our faces! If this administration had any intention of dealing fairly with MUNACA and its members, they would already have provided the information and explanation we asked for 3 weeks ago!

Dear Principal Munroe-Blum,

Three months ago, MUNACA members ratified a Collective Agreement with the Employer. Although it was clear to MUNACA that there were outstanding issues that needed to be discussed and language drafted, they were few and relatively straightforward. During the last three months several meetings have taken place and much progress was made, until February 17, 2012. On this date, the Employer introduced an interpretation that departed from a reference to employees previously covered by Appendix 10, which we agreed to eliminate. This occurred during a meeting scheduled with Ms. Claire Tremblay, the conciliator appointed by the Ministry of Labour, and representatives from the Employer and MUNACA/PSAC, in an attempt to clarify what was agreed upon during negotiations.

At this meeting the Employer’s representative, Mr. Robert Comeau, among other things, stated that the Employer has added members to the already provided list of eighty employees that the parties had already agreed upon. It was clear during negotiations, however, that only those members who were clearly identified by the university and agreed upon by MUNACA, would be affected by Article 23.10.

In the interest of clarity and expedience, MUNACA asked for the rationale, as well as the list of bargaining unit members that the Employer now wishes to add. In this way, we could at least assess whether there would be any greater effect than already agreed upon. We also sought assurances that the Employer’s intention was not to change the scope of the article in ways that were never even raised during negotiations. After waiting for three weeks, we have neither received any information from the Employer nor any answer to our requests.
JKDHFJKASHDFJKSHF
JKSDHA HFGJKZSGNZ

This delay is unacceptable and further strains the already volatile relationship between the employer and our union members. We would hope that this Administration would be interested in promoting a respectful and stable relationship with its support staff. MUNACA members have taken what they think were necessary measures in order to achieve improvements to their working conditions. It is surely time for the Employer to honour its commitments and to settle what should be very minor issues still remaining so that our representatives may meet in the coming weeks to sign the Collective Agreement that was negotiated in good faith.

Sincerely,
Kevin Whittaker

STUDENT STRIKE REBLOG: “THAT HEADLINE IS SOOOOOOO MONTREAL”

The student movement in Quebec is growing, and thus the State needs to up the level of repression in order to successfully prevent dissent.

from mcgill daily photoset available HERE

Of the 300 000 students in Quebec, 130 000 are on strike as of today, 9 Mars 2012. In the history of student strikes in Quebec, there has never been this many students on strike so quickly — probably because there has never been a Neo-Liberal Austerity Agenda so brutally enforced by an Ultra-Militarized Capitalist-State-Power during a time of Global Economic Crisis/Collapse.

On 7 Mars 2012, a student manifestation blew up across on the south side of Sherbrooke, across from the McGill Music school, where thousands of students decided to block the road and occupy CREPUQ — an unrepresentative bureaucracy which has been lobbying for Tuition Hikes since “the good ol’ days” (ie. when the HMB sat on their Board as Chair).

Everything was nice and fine until the SPVM thought it would be a good idea to throw shock-grenades, tear-gas canisters, industrial-strength pepper spray, and batons at the unarmed student protest. A video filmed by confused customers of the McGill Military-Industrial Residential Housing System shows the action in process.

lol @ "laws"

This video from the bourgeois media has an interview with a Comrade from CLASSE. Interestingly enough, the text with the video reads “University student Frank Levesque-Nicole says he was roughed up by police,” but the video itself shows the evidence (ie. Frank takes multiple nightstick hits to the back of the head in stunning Hi-Definition and then gives his interview with cracked glasses)

Beyond the usual injuries, a CEGEP student received a hot load of tax subsides/shrapnel to his eye. [Warning: graphic image of injury in article plus interview which says that Pigs refused to call an ambulances may Radicalize you into voting YES for Strike at the AUS General Assembly]

Once news of our Comrade’s injury spread, a Vigil and Support Rally was planned for 9 pm that evening at Berri-UQAM. Concordia’s Student Newspaper The Link reports:

this headline is

THIS HEADLINE IS SOOOOOOOO MONTREAL

Not much else to say except:

THE SUPPORTERS OF LIBERAL-DEMOCRACY WANT THE STATE TO BE THE ULTIMATE PATRIARCH!
BUT WHEN DADDY FAILS, WE MUST
SMASH HIM IN HIS FUCKING PIG FACE!!!!!
